Iloilo Business Park holds biggest scrabble competition for kids in WV

Iloilo Business Park recently hosted the biggest Scrabble competition for kids in the region, gathering more than 70 participants from various schools who put their vocabulary, wit and social skills to the test.

“Scrabble is not just a form of mental exercise, but is also a social practice. It lets participants discuss language and teamwork while competing. This is a rather relevant event in the province, where many schools are luring students away from television and computers, and activities such as this give the students a chance to realize their other skills and interests,” said Jennifer Palmares-Fong, VP for sales and marketing, Iloilo Business Park.

The competition has two categories: one for kids ages seven to ten years old, and another for juniors, ages 11 to 15 years old. Following the standard Scrabble competition mechanics practiced worldwide, participants had to go through elimination, semi-finals and finals to be able to claim the top prize.

Over 60,000 worth of cash and gift certificates were awarded to the winners, with special awards given to the best word scorer, the longest word scorer and the best in vocabulary.

Leisure township for all ages
Iloilo Business Park, developed by real estate giant Megaworld, is a whole-rounded community patterned after the company’s pioneering Live-Work-Play-Learn lifestyle concept, where families will have unlimited moments to enjoy life.

It has features where everyone can take some downtime, such as Megaworld Lifestyle Mall, a 1.1-kilometer dining strip, open parks, bike lanes and even the biggest McDonald’s in the whole island of Panay. It also has BPO office towers, international hotels, a world-class convention center and luxury residential condominiums.

“Here at Iloilo Business Park, we welcome everyone to have rich and varied experiences. Being a family-friendly township, we believe that the township is a great location for everyone, no matter the age, to discover more out of life,” said Palmares-Fong.

“Indeed, living right within the township can give families the convenience that they need in this day and age,” she added.

Currently, Iloilo Business Park has four residential towers: Lafayette Park Square, One Madison Place, The Palladium and the recently-launched Saint Honore, which is inspired by the grandeur of the French culture.

Capturing the laid-back, laissez-faire way of life of the French, the property has amenities for the utmost relaxation of its residents such as a swimming pool, a pool lounge, a kiddie pool, a Jacuzzi, a fitness gym, a landscaped atrium with trellised seating and function rooms. There will also be an arcaded retail shop at the ground floor.
